I chose 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' as the stop motion animation that I wanted to research and discuss because it is one of my favourite films and a classic. The film was released in 1993, directed by Henry Selick and written and produced by Tim Burton.
The budget of the film cost around $18 million however it made $81.7 million in the box office. For the film, 227 puppets were constructed to represent every character. Jack Skellington's characted along had "around 400 heads" to represent different expressions and emotions throughout the film. The film also used over 230 scene sets that were set up in nineteen different soundstages. 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' was not a fast made film with some scenes taking an entire week to shoot just one minute of film (Galindo, B. 2013).
Tim Burton is known for his style and work being very specific to him as a creator. This film was his first big break into the mainstream film industry in regards to animation films.
